Event information

Steve Forbert returns to London after his show at Bush Hall last Autumn to launch his album 'Over With You', an emotional collection of songs that re-focuses the spotlight on Steve's powerful songwriting talents. The album and concert were so successful that they generated an invitation to play at this years IOW Festival as well as the Glastonbury Festival.

Recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Grammy-Award winner Chris Goldsmith, the album features a fresh cast of musicians including indie-folk-rock artist Ben Sollee (My Morning Jacket), on cello and bass, Jason Yates (Ben Harper, Citizen Cope) on piano and organs, Michael Jerome (John Cale) on drums, and Sheldon Gomberg (Warren Zevon) on electric and upright bass.

The album features a guest appearance by Ben Harper as a guitarist on three tracks, including lead guitar on the focus track "That'd Be Alright."

Steve Forbert's 1978 debut "Alive on Arrival" catapulted him from "unknown folkie" to "the new Dylan" status in a matter of weeks. Discovered playing in CBGB's by Ramones manager Danny Fields his acoustic sound and unassuming, down to earth approach was an anomaly in New York's thriving new wave scene that nonetheless struck a chord .

Steve's knack for a sharp, evocative and unfussy lyric coupled with memorable tunes was carried through for the Top 20 hit "Romeo's Tune" (1979) and has propelled him forward ever since through more than 20 album releases on a variety of major and independent labels.
