Part of Oxfringe. A night of the very finest spoken word and music presented by eight cuts gallery literary project, with acclaimed and award-winning artists from across the UK.
The New Libertine movement is a reaction against the blank, bleak, brutal elements in much contemporary literary fiction. It seeks to create work that does justice to the marvellous whole of human experience. With roots that embrace fin de siecle France, burlesque, and the most lyrical flights of the Beat, the result is a celebration of humanity that is often shocking in its completeness, but is never anything less than a glorious tribute to a wonderful, complex, impossible, incredible thing: life.
Dan Holloway was Literary Death Match champion in 2010 and is a regular contributor to projects that range from the lyrical to the transgressive; Anna Hobson has performed at No Reading Alone and the O3 Gallery, and is the driving force behind Oxford Creative Writers; Lucy Ayrton is a regular at Hammer and Tongue and has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe; Helen Smith performs in London and is author of the acclaimed Alison Wonderland.
Musician Susanna Starling is also MC of the Queen of Clubs Cabaret.
Over 14s are welcome but are asked to be aware there may be some adult content.
