Stuart Silver – 'You Look Like Ants'

Stuart Silver presents his ‘big picture’ monologue on getting perspective. A philosophical almost-narrative of perilous received wisdoms and long-distance ambitions. With ukulele when you least expect it. And when you expect it.

Presenting his first solo show after a 10 year Perrier Award-winning, Bafta nominated collaboration with Kim Noble, Stuart Silver continues that partnerships’ tradition of crossing disciplines and entering new territories.

After highly successful performances at Soho Theatre, the London Word Festival and alongside great American songwriter Nina Nastasia and Canada’s Woodpigeon, here is a technically stripped back, musical Stuart Silver.

'You Look Like Ants' is an intimate, humorous, tragi-ballad. A conversational and textually rich epic journey where Stuart seeks to get a hold on what life is all about, under the crush of great advice.

Written and performed by Stuart Silver and co-directed by Stuart Silver and Jason Phipps. This work has been funded by Arts Council England.

Ana Silvera

With a packed out concert at the Purcell Room, and a recent performance on BBC Radio 3, singer-songwriter Ana Silvera’s star is in the ascent. Ana has been collaborating with the cream of the crop on both sides of the Atlantic – her first single, ‘Hometown’ was recorded in New York with Maxim Moston (Antony and the Johnsons), and she has gone on to collaborate with Ray Singer (Joan Armatrading, Peter Sarstedt) in London.

Ana’s songs draw on her own eventful life, as well as referencing mythical and historical tales. A London-born multi-instrumentalist, Ana was commissioned to write a new work by director of the Roundhouse, Marcus Davey.

Her song cycle “Oracles” for choir and strings was premiered in February 2011 at the Roundhouse Studios.

“Sublime…one of those songwriters who seems to appear fully formed in our midst” (Late Junction, BBC Radio 3).
