Event information

In 2011 Saudi Arabia took part for the very first time in
the world’s most prestigious contemporary art exhibition:
the Venice Biennale. The country was represented by
two female artists, who also happen to be sisters,
Shadia and Raja Alem. This special evening event
brings the two artists to Leighton House along with one
of the co-curators of their exhibition, Robin Start.
Shadia Alem is a renowned Saudi visual artist who
has held numerous solo and group exhibitions.
Raja Alem is a writer and a recipient of the 2011
International Prize for Arabic Fiction for her book,
“The Doves’ Necklace”. Robin Start is founder
and Director of The Park Gallery, London.
