RUBEN SVERRE GJERTSEN/ANTON LUKOSZEVIEZE cello
Ruben Sverre Gjertsen is one of his generations most articulate compositional voices. Performed throughout Europe, his complex and demanding scores create a sonic universe balancing broad gestures with transparent and fluent ideals. These qualities has lead Gjertsen into cooperation with the Oslo Philharmonic, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Pierre Boulez/the Luzern Festival Orchestra, Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart, Ensemble Vortex, Nouvel Ensemble Modern and others. At OTO master cellist Anton Lukoszevieze will perform his piece Fluente for solo cello. Rubens portrait CD "Grains" was released on +3DB in 2009.
MORTON JOHN OLSEN rotating bass drum
Berlin based, ex-Amsterdammer and exile Norwegian Morten J. Olsen is a musician, composer and improvisor best known for his work as a drummer with the Norwegian heavy-metal musique concrete duo MoHa! and the experimental chamber-rock band Ultralyd. Recently he has been exploring the inner sonics of a rotating bass drum (32 inches), in duo with Robin Hayward, in trio with Chris Heenan and Michael Vorfeld, with the Splitter Orchester, with electronics and simply solo, as is the case of the label showcase. Mortens first solo album on +3DB is expected mid 2012.
LEMUR FEATURING STEN SANDELL
Simmering with quiet intensity, Norwegian quartet Lemur aim for the world of chamber music with their collective acoustic improvisations. Their two releases on +3DB have been met with much critical acclaim. On their first tour with swedish pianist Sten Sandell they are expected to raise the bar of musical subtlety even higher. Lemurs "Aigéan" was released on +3DB in 2010.
BJØRNAR HABBESTAD piccolo/electronics
Bjørnar Habbestad performs, improvises and creates music and sound art. Recent activities includes the Norwegian premiere of Luigi Nonos pieces for flute and choir, collaborations with percusionist/composer Burkhardt Beins and a commision for a work for three performers, 18 channel audio and a historical building. His piccolo playing is a highly unconventional electronic restaging of this small but fearsome weapon. Habbestad is a founding member of the N-Collective and Artistic Director of +3DB records.
