Rupert Egerton-Smith is one of the world’s elite amateur pianists, winner of the 20th International Competition for Leading Amateur Pianists in Paris in 2009, where he also won the audience prize. His recent performance of Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit was watched by over a million listeners on France TV 2. He has given concerto performances and recitals in the USA, Middle East and Europe, and is returning to Uppingham for the first time, where he was a Music Scholar of Uppingham School, to play the Steinway piano he fondly remembers. His ‘scintillating technique and musical sensitivity’ will make this a memorable evening.
Programme to include works by Rachmaninov, Scarlatti and Liszt, Ravel’s Gaspard de la Nuit, and Chopin’s Scherzo No.1.
