Event information
NEW BUILD host a Friday night party at Corsica Studios.
New Build is a band, formed in London in 2011.
The band comprises three core members: Al Doyle, Felix Martin and Tom Hopkins.
Al Doyle plays with Hot Chip and the now-retired LCD Soundsystem. He is a multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass, percussion, strings, steel pans, drums and trumpet. Hot Chip's Felix Martin is a musician, producer & DJ, and Tom Hopkins is a studio engineer, sonic artist and electronic composer who has worked with a number of musicians, whilst also assisting Hot Chip with the production of their last studio album "One Life Stand".
New Build displays a commitment to harmonic experimentation and rhythmic drive, and a willingness to produce bold but intimate pop music in varied guises. They aspire to synthesize the yearning playfulness of artists such as Robert Wyatt, Eno, Peter Gabriel and John Cale, with the propulsive yet contemplative dance music of contemporary producers such as John Tejada, Kassem Mosse, Donnacha Costello and Objekt. They are also not averse to slow songs, monumental 80s synth textures, guitar solos and latin percussion work-outs...
As a live unit, Al, Felix and Tom are joined by Ben Ubly on bass guitar; Rupert Clervaux on drums; and Charlie Michael on percussion. Their first shows will be in London towards the end of 2011.
