F-IRE presents 2 exciting new projects with poetic leanings:
The Beguilers
The Beguilers are a recently formed band that bring together tender, mellifluous singing and sensitively crafted song-writing. These elements are woven into the narratives of poems by William Blake, Shakespeare, Joyce and others, delicately bringing their images and metaphors to life with finely wrought harmonies and luscious melodies. Composed by Fred Thomas (piano, guitar) for singer Ellie Rose and Dave Shulman (clarinet), these songs will invite your imagination to be at once moved, released and beguiled.
Shadow Writing
Formed in 2009 by four of London's most versatile musicians, the band's influences range from Stevie Wonder and King Crimson to The Punch Brothers. They play original, thoughtful, intense and uplifting progressive soul music, delving into lyrical territory that obscures the lines between reality and the supernatural with an ever-inquisitive sensibility for the unusual. They are currently working on their first release produced by Jason Yarde. Neo Joshua (vocs), Dave O’Brien (keys), Richard Gold (guitar) and Ed Hiller (drums).
