A night of bands brought to you in association with the rather excellent www.slatethedisco.com
MODEL STAGGS
The exceptional Model Staggs have developed a sound that goes further than stripped down blues rock. They make songs that are layered with warped bass tones, sophisticated melodies and rhythms, their arrangements are clever and their execution inventive.
“epic, thunderous duo Model Staggs…their expansive tracks somehow manage to recall Wolf Parade despite their having half as many band members.” DIY
“astoundingly big and sophisticated noise” Tom Robinson – 6 Music
IVORY SEAS
Making their debut Cambridge appearance, the widely tipped Ivory Seas bring their spawning and encapsulating sound north of the M25 for the very first time.
Blending the perfect balance of Wild Beasts and Chapel Club type melodic ambient indie pop with a hint of Shoegaze for good measure.
“London quartet Ivory Seas make sweet, melodious indie-pop music. Their music may borrow heavily from Wild Beasts (they have the same producer, Richard Formby) but with songwriting and dreamy instrumentation as good as this, that's no bad thing.” 405
“Sounding like The Smiths, if Morrissey was a lover and not a loner, Ivory Seas have all the makings of a brilliant British indie band.” Generator
DTSP
Described as Foals on steroids, this unsigned four-piece offer an edgy sub-pop and funk cross electronic riffs, the results of which make them one of the most exciting emerging bands in the region.Patiently perfected precarious pop which rewards the audience.
