Ian Smith is an award-winning comedian (You Must Be Joking 2009) and star of BBC2 sitcom, 'Popatron', 'BBC Three at the Fringe' and BBC1's 'The Syndicate'. At only 23, Ian has already developed a reputation as an exciting young talent.
He returns to his hometown of Goole to perform 'Anything', a work-in-progress of new ideas, before heading off to the Edinburgh festival. 'Anything' will incorporate the use of video and images.
In Edinburgh last year Ian was part of the double hander 'Beckett and Smith', which received four star reviews from The List and The Scotsman. The reporter from The Scotsman described the show as being 'by some distance one of the best free shows I have ever witnessed at the fringe'. Ian also compered the 'Big Value Comedy Show - Late' (**** - Three Weeks).
Ian has been described as 'fantastically funny' by The Times, a 'star of the future' by Time Out and was one of the 'top 10 acts to look out for in 2011' according to londonisfunny.com.
This year at the Edinburgh fringe he will appear in the imaginatively named stand-up double act, 'Ian Smith and Tom Toal' (1.30pm, Whistlebinkies, 4th-25th August).
