The law can be complicated and difficult to understand, appearing inaccessible to ordinary people. Legal jargon, parliamentary bills, the complex nature of the court system, can all contribute to the law being misunderstood. Chair Austin Lafferty, President of The Law Society of Scotland; with panellists Brandon Malone, Scottish Arbitration Centre; John Scott QC, Capital Defence Lawyers; Mark Thorley, Law Society of Scotland Legal Aid Negotiating Team; and Susan McPhee, Citizens Advice Scotland, will debate more mediation and arbitration, improving our system of human rights, the benefits of legal aid and making the law ‘less legal’. Participate in a live vote – shape the debate.
In association with The Law Society of Scotland.
