Northern Irishman Maurice Dickson has been writing and performing his songs for almost thirty years, and has for the latter half of that time made a successful career working in Europe and the United States as well as in the UK and Ireland. With a style of folk and blues guitar picking and finely crafted lyrics, his powerful brand of contemporary folk won him the folk section of the Limerick Arts Festival’s International Showcase. More recently, he has teamed up with uileann piper and whistle player Catherine Ashcroft, thus adding traditional tunes and another dimension to the song arrangements – and in the process, creating the duo Mochara. The combination is impressive.
