COMBE MARTIN: The Pack o' Cards

At the beginning of 2011, our concert guests were Issy and David Emeney from Somerset, since when they have continued to delight audiences wherever they have performed. But this is a new departure for Issy. Freshly Ground combines the talent and experience of some dozen of the South West’s folk singers, who come together to sing traditional English songs in glorious harmony. Issy writes the preliminary harmonies and arrangements, then everyone sticks their respective and respected oars in, and so the songs evolve. But the group never loses sight of the fact that the song itself is what matters most, so the arrangements are often simple, but always simply beautiful. This is something quite unusual for a Shammick Acoustic concert and will undoubtedly be a refreshing delight!
