Harrow’s Trinity Orchestra invites you to join them for an evening of wonderfully varied music from masters of Classical, Romantic and 20th Century music.

Opening the concert will be Beethoven’s dramatic Leonore Overture No. 3. Written for his famous opera Fidelio, it is considered to be one of the composer’s greatest overtures.

Two works inspired by composers’ love affairs will follow. The song cycle Wesendonck Lieder musically illustrates Wagner’s adoration for the German poet Mathilde Wesendonck, the author of the songs’ text. Trinity Orchestra are delighted that Ashley Duplechien, a star soprano from the Royal Academy of Music, will be joining them to perform this beautiful work.

And not one, but two women provide the inspiration for Sir William Walton’s Symphony No. 1: the turbulent first movements representing the composer’s tempestuous relationship with Imma von Doernberg (to whom the work is dedicated), and the contrastingly brighter final movement depicting his next great love, Lady Alice Wimborne. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear this majestic masterpiece of English orchestral music performed in Harrow!

Come along to our free pre-concert talk, at 7pm where you will find out more about the music and meet the players.
