Internationally known violinist Hideko Udagawa (www.hidekoudagawa.com) is performing in Aberdeen for the first time, for a one-off concert, playing the Concerto-Rhapsody in Bb minor, a work by one of her favorite composers, the Armenian, Aram Khachaturian. As the great-granddaughter of one of Japan's prime ministers, she enjoys her international role as a cultural ambassador. Among several performances for the United Nations, she played at its 50th anniversary concerts in Vienna's Konzerthaus and the Victoria Hall in Geneva. She has also presented a recital in Tokyo in the presence of their Imperial Highnesses, the Crown Prince and Princess of Japan. Hideko Udagawa studied with Nathan Milstein in London and at the Juilliard School in New York. After living in Tokyo and New York, she now lives in London.
The concert includes works by two other "Soviet giants", a Rimsky-Korsakov overture, "The Tsar's Bride" and Tchaikovsky's stirring and thrilling Symphony number 1 in G minor, "A Winter's Daydream".
Refreshments at the interval (wine or juice) are included in the ticket price. Tickets are £10 / £5 at the door or 10% off when bought in advance at this web site.
