Gypsy Fever is a six piece multi-ethnic Gypsy/Swing/Folk-Rock fusion band. They will take you on an exotic musical journey that will stir your nomadic soul and get your feet dancing!
Katarina Gadjo, the founding member of Gypsy Fever, grew up in Modosh, a small Serbian village that has been swaying to the heterophonic heat of the local Gypsy-Roma musicians for generations. There, as the old saying goes, music is used to 'beat sorrow into celebration' ("udri brigu na veselje"). Though born of their sorrows, the celebratory nature of the music defies the difficult and marginal existence of many Romany people in Balkans.
With this music - that exists only in the air and the blood - Katarina arrived in London via the ashrams of India, found musical comrades from Hungary (Peter - Bass), Czech Republic (Ondrej - Drums), Italy (Daniela – vocals) and the UK (Rich – Guitar and Ben - Clarinet/Sax), and so began the twisting into existence of Gypsy Fever, the band that Milosevic forgot!
Since then, Gypsy Fever have been spinning audiences up and down the UK, singing the songs of the people in seven languages, surrounding Balkan roots with Swing, Gypsy Jazz and Folk-Rock influences, experimenting with the rhythms of the Balkan weddings and streets of the East and creating music that swings hips, stirs souls and makes the crowd roar...
