Hank Wangford and Brad Breath (Andy Roberts) are back at the Green Note joined this time by the Country stylings and sweet harmonies of newcomer Spanner Robinson. Together the three of them will sing you original heartbreakers, toetappers and scuffed jewels scraped from the underbelly of Country. And however summery it is outside Hank’s fresh cut slices of life and Brad’s glimpses of gloom should keep the spirits low and the misery high.
Hank Wangford godfather of British Country music was indoctrinated by Gram Parsons in 1970 and has been at it ever since.
As Andy Roberts, Brad has played with Scaffold, Bonzo Dog, Plainsong, Billy Connolly, Pink Floyd, Rolf Harris and many others.
Spanner Robinson sings with Hank & the Lost Cowboys and look out for her with Jeremy Mendonca as powerful Americana duo Hallelujah Trails.
Many of the songs will be from Hank’s most recent albums “Best Foot Forward” and “Whistling In The Dark” and from his current recording project an album entirely of waltzes “Save Me The Waltz”.
Hank Brad & Spanner – the Peter Paul & Mary of the 21st century?
“An emotional rollercoaster ride. From honkytonkin’ heartbroken songs of 1950s and ‘60s rural America via the 1984 British miner’s strike, right up to the present day. Beautifully crafted original songs full of class, wit and poignant observations. We laughed and cried – sometimes at the same time – it’s a privilege to be present on nights like these.” Mike Leigh
“A must see and must hear for any fan of Country music and if you’re not a fan you’ll soon convert. The music is beautiful, the stories funny and they have great taste in cowboy gear.” Carn to Cove, Cornwall
