Canadian Tanya Kalmanovitch stands as one of the first violists to define a voice for her instrument in contemporary improvised music. Based in New York City since 2004, she has been named “Best New Talent” by All About Jazz, while Time Out New York identified her as “the Juilliard-trained violist who’s been tearing up the scene”.
Huw Warren has been one of most innovative players on the UK scene for over 20 years; freely crossing styles and genres whilst retaining an individual voice. His most recent recording is 'Quercus' with June Tabor and Iain Ballamy on ECM.
