Within the last few years SERIOUS SAM BARRETT has played all over Europe and the U.S.A. getting plenty of return offers for major festivals (GLASTONBURY, SOUTH BY SOUTH WEST, SECRET GARDEN PARTY, SOUNDWAVE, KENDAL CALLING), and regularly supporting high profile artists such as THE FELICE BROTHERS, CHARLIE PARR, PETE MOLINARI, T MODEL FORD, DEER TICK, BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES, WILLIS EARL BEAL and EAGULLS to name but a few. With support from TOM ROBINSON (BBC 6Music) and even the GUARDIAN GUIDE, as well as a REALLY impressive array of CREDIBLE music press (featured below) he's very much about to go big.

With a recent documentary on him (Hardeep Pandhal's SAM AT 30) getting some film festival love, getting asked to curate and play the LEEDS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL for the FORTH year running and soundtracking several skateboard video's for SIDEWALK MAGAZINE, DOCUMENT AND SORE SKATES you could say he's doing rather well...What's even more impressive is that he doing it without a manager (he books his own shows), any kind of press or radio pluggers and despite an ever increasing array of offers he still releases on his own D.I.Y. record label YaDig? Records....

So far this year he's played yet another 3 week tour of the USA, he's booked in to do show's with THE LEGENDARY SHACK SHAKERS and THE PINE HILL HAINTS, he'll be releasing his 2nd album as an official INTERNATIONAL RECORD STORE DAY release and he's hooking up with REVOLUTIONS BREWING COMPANY to do a limited SERIOUS SAM BARRETT cask ale, playing two countrywide tours and many more festivals.....

“Yorkshirecana bluegrass brilliance from Serious Sam. He plays a mean 12 string resonator, mixing songs about his home county with traditional southern folk stompers. There’s authenticity, there’s soul - someone to get very excited about.”- ARTROCKER

(ARTROCKER MAGAZINE voted his first album NUMBER 27 in the top 100 albums of 2009 (not bad for a 500 limited pressing) http://artrocker.com/node/19662)

“Deliciously home-grown, this is a rewarding collection of songs that could well renew your faith in underground folk scenes. This stripped down and raw album is riddled with the gritty reality of this artist's Northern life and makes no apologies” ACOUSTIC MAGAZINE

“An endlessly playable delight from beginning to end”- VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE (USA)

.“Barrett has become a master of his craft”-BLUES MATTERS MAGAZINE..

“Serious Sam Barrett plays traditional songs and his own compositions from the Leeds delta on a big 12-string guitar and resonator. Close To Home, his debut album is bright and brash and very good”. ROCK N' REEL MAGAZINE (R2)

Double Bassist Martyn Roper slaps and plucks the strings to produce both percussion and bass lines all at once. He plays across the world as bass player with Blues band Leeds City Stompers and Rock band Gentlemans Pistols as well as playing guitar and banjo for The Old Time String Band and as a solo artist. From blues, jazz, country, swing, rock, punk, folk, pop to heavy metal he has played it all.
