Award-winning singer songwriter Christine Bovill started her career in Jazz haunts and Blues dens, polishing her own take on the American Songbook.

Her voice has been described as, “a sonic combination of dark chocolate and cigarettes”.

In a year that has seen Bovill sell out at Edinburgh's famous Speigeltent; duet with Charles Dumont, composer of Non Je ne Regrette Rien; and close BBC Newsnight's run of Festival review programmes, her feet haven't yet touched the ground.

In First Ladies of Jazz-with numbers such as You’re The Top, Body and Soul, Cheek to Cheek and Misty - the songstress celebrates the work of her musical heroines. In the words of a Festival critic, "If you love music, and you want to experience something extraordinary, then run, fly, race to book your ticket immediately."
