Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Patty Griffin is back with her first album of new material in six years, American Kid, and is touring the UK in July.

With a voice as unmistakeable and inimitable as her songwriting, Patty was awarded the Americana Music Association's coveted Artist of the Year award.

Following her Grammy-nominated 2011 album of traditional gospel songs, American Kid returns to Patty Griffin territory, featuring remarkably powerful, personal and unpredictable songs which draw on her previous work, but takes in a more personal direction – much of the album was, Griffin says, "written to honor my father".
