Sounds From the Other City & Comfortable on a Tightrope Present Group
Rhoda

With one week until SFTOC presents its annual festival across the corridor of Chapel
St, Salford, taking in 13 venues each with a different promoter at the helm and over
70 acts this event with the stunning Group Rhoda in collaboration with Group Rhoda
acts as a sort of warm up event to the big day

Group Rhoda
Group Rhoda is a solo project from San Francisco. It is an attempt at dealing with
opposition, sharpening intuition, following instincts and turning ideas into actions.
Having topped many a end of year list with last years Out of Time, Out of Touch
LP we welcome her with budding ears to Kraak From her way-out-west base
she's crafted a striking record, a coolly disciplined blend of plaintive vocals, driving
drumbox pulses and flowering synth melody delivered with effortless, detached
nonchalance and verve placing her somewhere between Suicide, Julia Holter, John
Maus and Peaking Lights.

APOSTILLE is the damaged-pop project of Night School Records boss and PLEASE guitarist Michael Kasparis. Kaleidoscopic instrumentation is refracted into crystalline transmissions that are immediate and affecting, as evinced across a string of releases including a split with Meddicine on birthday tapes, a 7" on comfortable on a tightrope, a split with DNBL on Clan Destine and a forthcoming E.P. on Goaty tapes. Cues taken from and hat doffed to U.S. GIRLS, Cabaret Voltaire, Silk Flowers and etc. Live performances are where the tensions present in the songs come to the fore; Pop hooks battling their way through layers of noise, all delivered with a sincere and generous intensity few can muster.

O>L>A
Two piece electronic duo based in North West England. Low key ambient tracks
meet cavernous spaces and textured beats sitting alongside lush orchestrated
passages, clean guitar lines, layered vocal harmonies and distorted rhythms. This gig
occurs in preparation of the release of 6 track EP which hits our ears in the coming
months. Listen to a couple of rough demos here: http://soundcloud.com/o-l-a and
