The debut feature from award-winning theatre and opera director Rufus Norris, Broken won Best British Independent Film at the 2012 British Independent Film Awards. A powerful drama it features an outstanding ensemble cast, revolving around Skunk (Eloise Laurence), an 11-year-old with diabetes, a bothersome condition that impinges on her otherwise seemingly blissful life in a North London suburb. Skunk’s life changes after witnessing a violent attack. Beautifully shot, in a kind of trance-like glow, Laurence as Skunk delivers a wonderfully natural and eye -catching performance that marks her as a star in the making.
