Magical Voyage with Opera Nova

The North East's leading amateur Opera group bring their superb show to the Forum.

Welcome aboard the MS Nova as we set sail on a modern day cruise ship. Passengers embark on a musical voyage of discovery, each with their own tale to tell. The glamorous yet tragic Violetta invites us to her party on the opening evening of our journey, with rousing tunes from La Traviata.

As the ship gently glides across the seas, our passengers take a trip ashore to an adyllic island (Alcina). Bathed in sunshine there are tales to tell of a heartbroken wife (Marriage of Figaro), bickering friends (Norma) and fighting 'cats' (Duetto buffo di due gatti). Back on board more partying closes the evening with the feisty waltz scene from Eugene Onegin.

Further on in our journey we are awoken by the lamentations of Senta and the women witness first-hand the ghostly imagery of The Flying Dutchman as the men takepleasure in trying to scare them. A lone voice remains in salute to the moon (Rusalka).

Back in celebratory mood for a wedding and entertainment for all tastes, our journey ends with a riotous romp through Die Fledermaus as we toast our newfound friends in champagne and, of course 'promise to stay in touch'.....
