What a privilege it is to begin this autumn's 'Roots' season with a performance by this phenomenal contemporary jazz musician who oozes class!

You may be forgiven for not having heard of English born guitarist Chris Standring but I urge you to check him out; he grew up in Aylesbury, studied at London College of Music and wrote music for the BBC, and for several theatrical orchestrations, before moving to Southern California in 1991. That's where he met up with Rodney Lee and formed the group, 'Solar System', releasing an acid-jazz CD which introduced Standring's vibey instrumental tunes to the world!

Chris Standring's groundbreaking 2010 CD 'Blues Bolero' topped several year-end lists and produced a No. 1 single in the US. A tough act to follow but Standring managed it nicely in 2012 with 'Electric Wonderland' - a CD, voted best album of the year by JazzTimes, that fuses elements of Blue Bolero's orchestral touches with a deft jazz-pop touch that's been a hallmark of Standring's stellar career.

Chris Standring is over in the UK for just a few London dates so take the opportunity to see this great performer, backed by some of the UK's finest session musicians, before he flies back to his adopted homeland.
