Event information
The Manouche- Gyspsy swing a la the John Jorgenson Quintet and Pearl Django. Marvellous.
Arkk- "A light no longer shines on the corner where you left me" Gulp! Sad lyrics aside, this is like The Verve or the Manic Street Preachers gone acoustic and girlfren friendly doe eyed, works a treat too.
CN Lester- Singer songwriter and her piano playing melancholic but attitude riven tunes in the vein of Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan. Macatier- Singer songwriter playing raw yet catchy acoustic indie folk in the vein of Ben Marwood and Frank Turner.
Cathy Jewson- "Soulful acoustic guitar, harmonised by spine-tingling vocal elegance" Yes sir... Laura Marling or Fiona Apple fans will dig Cathy thinks me.
Normanton Street- downbeat jazziness featuring a slinky riddim, a finely plucked guitar and an evocatively blown sax prior to smoky rap cum singing vocal...a cavalcade of words fulla social comment and poetic nuances...interesting...a new Northern beatnik scene?! (Brighton via Bradford) Jazzy Brithop in essence.
