As part of Otley’s Yorkshire Month, Otley Film Society is screening 3 classic Yorkshire-set films during the afternoon and evening of Saturday August 10th.
Tickets for all 3 films are available online for just £9.
Tickets for individual films are available from Otley Courthouse for £4 each (£2 tickets for children).
We will be screening:
The Railway Children – 2pm
Directed by Lionel Jeffries, this adaptation of E Nesbit’s much-loved novel is simply the finest children’s film ever made in this country.
Kes – 6pm
Funny, sad, bitingly authentic, Kes resonates with Loach’s anger at the way many kids grow up into narrow, option-free lives.
A Private Function – 8.30pm
Set in a small Yorkshire town in 1947, this first feature scripted by Alan Bennett is a pig-movie, about the smells they make and the lengths to which people went to steal one in austerity Britain, when there really was an illicit trade in the animals.
