One of Scotland’s finest voices, Dick was voted Traditional Singer of the Year in the 2004 Scots Trad Music Awards. He was an early member of the band Boys of the Lough and the now-legendary, Five Hand Reel, and his own album Handful of Earth was voted Album of the Decade for the 1980s in both Readers' and Critics' polls in fRoots. Attending a Dick Gaughan gig is about so much more than the music; his introductions to the songs, touch on history and civics and are told with a wry humour.
