Fragile, emotional, classical indie music would maybe be the best term to describe Icelandic artist Ólafur Arnalds’ music.
Combining classical instrumentation with an indierock aesthetic there are obvious comparisons to Sigur Ros, but Arnalds is sculpting his own epic, string-laden compositions.
Ólafur is just 20 years old, hails from the suburbian town Mosfellsbær, just a few kilometers out of Reykjavík. Ólafur and his string quartet will be performing live at the oldest custom-built concert hall in Europe, the beautiful Holywell Music Room in Oxford on December 11th, before he continues touring other unique venues throughout the rest of Europe.
Thom Yorke is reputedly already an admirer, and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich's management Solar are to be looking after Ólafur with respect to film scoring.
Olafur will also be playing the avant-rock & cutting edge electronics festival State-X Newforms in Den Haag (NL) headlined by legends Aphex Twin and Mogwai.
Expect slow-building and hauntingly melodic chamber music, accompanied by electronic ambience, loops and sometimes heavy electronic beats.

This special concert will also feature Robert of highly acclaimed Oxford band A Silent Film, in an acoustic performance. A Silent Film have a cinematic vibe grown from a classical/electronic root in rock and pop.
Also featuring the sublimely talented singer songwriter Richard Walters.

Please note, the concert will have intervals so you can go across the road for a drink in between the performances, as there is no bar in the venue.
Doors are at 7pm with Richard Walters starting at 7.30pm sharp.
