Standing in Line

Through song, poetry and narration, Standing In Line tells the story of the Great War, but specifically about Albert Scrimshaw, Lester Simpson’s great uncle, who died at Passendale. Originally commissioned by ‘Peace Concerts Passendale’, it was premiered in Passendale Church, Belgium in 2003. The performance is centred around Lester’s songs though includes songs from the time. The narration includes poems of Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon and Rudyard Kipling and is accompanied by a series of projected images. Written by Lester Simpson & Piet Chielans.
