Seattle’s Cahalen Morrison and Eli West make another visit here (they played Summertyne 2012). Inspired by mountain music they are one of the hottest acts to emerge out of the traditional US roots music scene. The excellence of shared lead & sibling-styled harmony vocals go perfect with their claw-hammer banjo, mandolin, bouzouki & guitar. When people talk about their Appalachian music, terms like gorgeous, amazing, gentle, lush, sophisticated, soulful, organic and earthy, all get bandied around.
Both are multi-instrumentalist’s - Cahalen is equally at home playing finger style guitar, lap slide, and claw hammer banjo while Eli West, a Suzuki Violin kid is busy sitting in on mandolin with many A list – folk, country- roots musicians.
