National Theatre Live will broadcast Academy Award® winning director Sam Mendes’ production of King Lear live from the National Theatre on THURSDAY 1 MAY 2014.
King Lear by William Shakespeare
Academy Award® winner Sam Mendes (James Bond: Skyfall, American Beauty) returns to the National Theatre to direct Simon Russell Beale (Timon of Athens, Collaborators) in the title role of Shakespeare’s tragedy.
An aged king decides to divide his kingdom between his three daughters, according to which of them is most eloquent in praising him. His favourite, Cordelia, says nothing. Lear’s world descends into chaos.
There will be a bar in the foyer or at the kiosk for this event. Doors open at 6.00pm and the event starts at 7.00pm prompt. This event is 'advisory 12A' - suitable for 12 years and over (all under 12s to be accompanied by an adult).
These tickets are for unreserved stalls (downstairs) seats at the venue. When the stalls has sold out tickets for the balcony (upstairs) seats will go on sale.
