“Conjures some of the outlaw spirit of Steve Earle….steeped in classic imagery….anyone with a passing interest in roots music will understand, appreciate and enjoy….” (Fatea Magazine)
“Timeless, fusing elements of bluegrass, country and folk. Not every day you hear so many instruments played - guitar, banjo, mandolin, double bass, sparse percussion and even a jew’s harp. Lots of strings..I like that!!” (Tom Robinson, BBC Radio 6)
We were lucky enough to catch this talented 4 piece at last year’s Maverick festival - and let us tell you, any band that can shake, rattle and roll the Barn stage to it’s foundations at 11 o clock in the morning really does have something going for it!
Their high energy rockin’ brand of Americana bought smiles to everyones faces, and we knew then and there that we would have to get them down to the Square Tower for you.
“Bluegrass of the highest calibre, with soaring harmonies and foot-stomping rhythm!” (Americana UK)
Porchlight Smoker will be celebrating the release of their 3rd album with us, and they comprise:
Scott Smith - Guitar, lapsteel, banjo, harmonica, mandolin, clarinet and vocals
Steve Bell - Banjo, guitar, harmonica, mandolin and vocals
Fred Gregory - Guitar, mandolin and vocals
Scott Warman - Stand-up bass and vocals
Often described as “the real deal”, every Porchlight Smoker show is different and no song is ever performed quite the same way twice! They play a varied and at times virtuoso repertoire that mixes self-penned works with covers made very much their own. A range of instruments, including banjo, guitar, lapsteel, stand-up bass and mandolin, even clarinet, accompany the bands trademark four part vocal harmonies.
