Nashville friends Audrey Auld and Mean Mary are touring the UK and Europe. Audrey's an Aussie, Mary's American and together they play guitar, fiddle and banjo. The two artists will perform solo as well as accompanying each other. You're guaranteed a show of great tunes, stellar picking, some good laughs and a taste of country and folk songs that are rooted in the traditions of American music.
AUDREY AULD: Devils are not the only thing to come from Tasmania. Audrey Auld's heart is in Country, Folk and Americana music with a presence as big as The Outback. A fearless entertainer, an honest and witty writer, Audrey is never afraid to venture into the dark places of life and shine a humorous light upon them. Her songs are heard on the Grand Ole Opry, recorded by Nashville stars and descendents of the Carter Family, included in TV shows ('Justified', ‘The Good Guys’, ‘Longmire’) and played within the walls of San Quentin Prison where she hosts ongoing writing workshops. Audrey calls her style, "music with the dirt left on". Auld lives in East Nashville with her plumber husband, good dogs, wayward chickens and emancipated frogs, growing food, making jewelry, writing songs, recording and touring.
"The only problem with Auld is trying to decide if she's more remarkable as a singer or a songwriter, which isn't the worst problem an artist can have." 3rd Coast Music, Texas
"It's one thing for singers to write beautifully and sing beautifully, but when they're also funny, as in stand-up-comic funny, it makes going to their shows not only pleasurable but also memorable, well beyond the exit ramp headed back home. How many times do you leave a concert and find yourself quoting lines the singer says in between the songs? Such is the case with Tasmanian native Audrey Auld." Dallas Morning News, Texas
MEAN MARY: Mean Mary, singer/songwriter & master of 11 instruments, is not really so mean—even Hank Williams Jr. called her a "sweetheart." But she is infamous for her alluring story songs, incredible instrumental speed, and rich voice that can travel from deep emotion to sparkling trills. She is endorsed by Deering Banjos, an author of several books, and the fun loving star of Nashville TV show, Never-Ending Street.
''Mean Mary' James, a Florida native now based in Nashville, began life as a musical prodigy. She could read music before she could read words and co-wrote songs at age five. By age seven she was proficient on the guitar, banjo, & violin, and entertained audiences across the U.S. with her vocal and instrumental skills. Her life, interspersed with horses, Hollywood and snake-catching, is one long road show.
"Her personality and energy light up the room and the crowd goes crazy." Chris Lash, Radio Veteran, WDAP, WWON
"Fantastic. I had chills from hearing your wonderful playing! Five Stars for sure!" Janet Deering, Owner/CEO, Deering Banjos
