Accomplished local jazz musicians deliver nostaligic standards of the bygone era of Django/Grappelli 30s and 40s jazz/blues.
The Hot Club of Stonehouse is a new band put together with Becky Brine as the vocalist, a tiny dainty framed lady with a huge belting and mesmerising soulful voice. As soon as the band starts up weíre quickly transported back to a bygone era of 1930ís music hall that is both nostalgic and distinctly Parisian; itís also quite striking and perfectly communicates directly to the audience in a good humoured crowd pleasing toe tapping kind of way. The rest of the band are also ridiculously talented and virtuoso musicians in their own right. Guitarists Julian Isaacs and Dave Jones between them provide the infectiously feel good gypsy jazz rhythm in the style of Django Reinhardt with the outstandingly accomplished violinist Mel Scullion adding the Stephane Grappelli touch, For a wonderful evening of feel good gypsy swing jazz you canít do any better than to come and see the Hot Club of Stonehouse. Pre-Show meals available by contacting the The George directly on 01769 572514.
