Kristian Borring is launching his second album as leader, following up on his impressive debut album from 2011, Nausicaa, which received widespread acclaim. The new album, Urban Novel, released on Jellymould Jazz, features once again Kristian’s quartet, the outstanding talents of Arthur Lea (p), Mick Coady (b) and Jon Scott (d). The new compositions, is a step further into Kristian’s world of much praised strong sense of melody and colorful harmony in an adventurous playground of rhythm.
The launch is part of the group’s UK tour.
“There is an engaging brightness to Borring’s sound… [He] not only favours a fleet-fingered, hip swinging, soul-bop but draws as well from the subtle, gentle lyricism of guitarists such as John Abercrombie and Pat Metheny.”
Selwyn Harris, Jazzwise
“[Kristian has] a hyper-cool and low-key approach to jazz guitar, but reprises it with warmth, confidence and a rhythmic hipness that's thoroughly contemporary.”
John Fordham, The Guardian
