Ha Ha Tonka is the unmistakable indie-meets-Southern rock band comprised of Brett Anderson, Lennon Bone, Lucas Long & Brian Roberts. Named after Ha Ha Tonka State Park in their native Missouri, the band has become renowned for its authentic, effortless brand of indie-Americana, seamlessly fusing the traditional with modern, contemporary elements. They sit at the crossroads of this musical landscape, where Alabama meets Arcade Fire, shakes their hand and takes them out for a drink. The quartet are recently released their highly anticipated fourth full-length album, Lessons, on September 24th via Bloodshot Records.

As the title implies, the inspiration behind Lessons stems from lifeís biggest ones. Motivated by late illustrator & renowned childrenís author Maurice Sendakís musings on the creative process & what it means to be an artist, the band captured this message and the fragile, oft-irrational comedy of life in sonic form. Produced by Dan Molad (Lucius) & The Ryantist, the notion of lifeís immediacy is kept firmly at the forefront of Lessons. The band toys with the theme of living beyond a normal lifetime- the concept of reliving & rewriting our lives, and the lessons we can all learn along the way.

Ha Ha Tonka released its Bloodshot Records debut, Buckle in the Bible Belt, to much acclaim in 2007, gaining praise from glossies like PASTE and Spin, and taste-making radio stations like KEXP. The band followed up with LP Novel Sounds of the Nouveau South in 2009, which was also showered with thumbs up from critics and fans alike. 2011 brought the authentic-meets-modern Death of a Decade, recorded in a 200-year-old barn, again revered by press (including the likes of NPR and Washington Post) and audiences everywhere. Death of a Decade charted on Billboards Top 200 and reached #2 on Amazon's Best Sellers list in April of 2011. The band also became the first musical act to appear on Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations that same month.

The groupís relentless touring has seen them become one of the most talked-about bands in America, appearing at Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits Festival, Sundance Film Festival, SXSW, CMJ, Wakarusa and more, while touring as a headlining act and selling out shows across both North America and Europe. Ha Ha Tonka will be returning to Europe in May/June 2014 to share live offerings from not only Lessons but their full catalog.
