Recording live from the Oakwood this very special show with Open Mic UK 2013 winner Heidi Browne and the incredibly talented Tracey Browne will feature on both The Radio Shed and The Ripman show for Fab Radio International.
Heidi Browne like playing the Oakwood that much she wanted to come back which is handy as everyone who saw her wanted her to come back a week later! So impressed were the Oakwood’s clientele of musical connoisseurs they voted her the second best gig of 2013. Considering the winner was QuietLoner that isn’t a bad spot to be in!
Heidi saw off more than 9,000 artist in January 2014 to be crowned overall champion of the Open Mic UK contest. Heidi wowed judges and a crowd of hundreds of people at the NEC in Birmingham by performing her own song called G.I.R.L.F.R.I.E.N.D.
Not only has her “old” album Table 4 one been featured heavily on The Radio Shed’s Saturday show the “new” Album has had every song played and due it’s rerun up to this event.

Singer/Songwriter Heidi Browne is a BBC Introducing Pick for 2013, who in early 2014 was crowned the overall winner of OpenMicUK. She was also shortlisted for Jamie Cullum's Big Audition in 2011 and has released two albums of original songs which have been featured on BBC 6Music, Amazing Radio and a host of regional stations.
Heidi has been gigging regularly since the age of 16. She's supported Beverly Knight, Jack Savoretti and Canadian folk award winning duo Madison Violet. Heidi has also worked with numerous musicians such as singer Ashley Fayth, Adam French and Bob Hart of Manfred Mann's Earth band.
Heidi is a self-taught multi-instrumentalist from a musical family. Her dad toured with Kate Bush and is the keyboard player with Barclay James Harvest. Her music ranges in genre from rootsy-pop to jazzy-folk, seasoned with reggae influences and a touch of the theatrical.
Whilst studying art in the French capital, Heidi also produced an animated music video entitled 'Paris'. The song would later feature on her second album 'Lost in Grey' and is popular on YouTube. Folk singer Thea Gilmore tweeted that 'Paris' would be the "best Ł1 you'll ever spend".
Following a Masterclass at Abbey Road Studios, BBC Radio 2's Tom Robinson described her song 'G.I.R.L.F.R.I.E.N.D' as "immaculate". Shortly after, the song was picked up by International Publishing Label 'Massive Talent'.
Tracey Browne is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and session singer; working with acts including Thea Gilmore, Nigel Stonier and Fran Smith, you will have heard her vocals gracing the Radio 2 playlists with Thea on a regular basis.
Coming from a background of no musical family connections, Tracey has built her own career from the ground up. She has released 4 studio records (2 albums and 2 EPs) and is a qualified and experienced sound engineer, both live and in the recording studio.
She currently resides in Levenshulme, Manchester, where she runs songwriter's gigs for the local community.
She also volunteers in her spare time for the NABD, the National Association for Bikers with a Disability, where she holds a National Committee Trustee post as the Adaptions Co-ordinator.
