SHINDIG presents three epic acts filling Cambridge's All Saints Church to it's sonic capacity this May, with special guest Philip Cornett mixing an ambient backing track live.
The first is composed of five friends from all across the UK, who after a four year absence will be releasing their new record 'Navigator' just a few days before. Described previously as creating "massive, pastorally apocalyptic music", Her Name is Calla are renowned for their live shows, always bringing a diverse range of emotions, energy and instruments to the stage. Not to be missed.
Second to the bill are Myyths, a Brighton-based band composed of one Swedish and one Belgian member. The music the pair create together is dark, monolithic, and impeccably crafted, and looks set to bring a slightly more foreboding atmosphere to the gig than our headliners. Using minimal equipment, the band are capable of unleashing a tidal wave of drone, given humanity by the vocals and other arrangements throughout.
As is usual with SHINDIG events, a month without some experimental activity would be a waste. Third to the bill is permatour veteran C.J. Boyd, whose bass and vocals have entranced all across Europe, the US and the UK. A master of live looping, C.J.'s skill is in improvisation - fully blown compositions emerging from his amp as if from nowhere. After playing several small shows for us in Cambridge, this will be a rare opportunity to see C.J. play to a larger, more atmospheric space.
