“Spellbinding tunes, lushly arranged. A trio at the forefront of a new generation of precociously gifted musicians” – Aidan O’Rourke
“Quite the best folk music CD I have heard for a very long time!” - English Dance & Song Magazine
Horizontal Sunday are three graduates of the Folk and Traditional Degree course at Newcastle University, Sarah Dorward, Becca Nice and Dave Gray, who play a wide variety of traditional and self-penned folk music on melodeon, fiddle and clàrsach. With their subtle blend of musical influences from across the UK, Horizontal Sunday create an innovative and refreshing folk sound, and their debut album, “It’s Complicated”, reflects this through arrangements developed and inspired by the people they have met during their time together. They have a contemporary approach to the traditional genre, which when coupled with their obvious love of the music and its heritage make Horizontal Sunday are truly great band to spend an evening with.
