::: CLIMBING TREES :::
Pioneers of the self-coined 'Cymrucana' scene, BBC Introducing favourites Climbing Trees released critically-acclaimed debut record 'Hebron' in the summer of 2013, receiving regular airplay from the likes of new music stalwarts Bethan Elfyn and Adam Walton in support of the album, as well as being playlisted across BBC Radio Wales and gaining both 'Artist of the Week' and 'Single of the Week' recognition for their track 'Aloisi'. Recent months have seen the band supporting touring artists as diverse as Jamie Cullum and Spin Doctors, along with appearances at the likes of Swn Festival and Do Not Go Gentle Festival, playing with other rising Welsh acts such as Paper Aeroplanes and Al Lewis. Work on the follow-up to Hebron will begin in the spring, and as The Trees gather momentum a Welsh tour is earmarked for the autumn following a string of summer festival appearances - 2014 is set to be a big year for Climbing Trees.
::: MADDIE JONES :::
Ystrad Mynach's Maddie Jones is fast gaining a reputation for her bombastic solo performances, whilst regularly appearing alongside 'The Men', a group of improvising backing musicians featuring cello, bass, mandolin and djembe. Following her triumph at Cardiff's Big Gig Competition in 2013, Maddie has performed at a number of festivals including the brand new Hub Festival, and the well-established Swn Festival. Maddie has recently gained airplay and recorded live sessions for both BBC Radio Wales and Nation Radio in support of her second EP, 'Mr Walrus', released in Autumn 2013, and is set to record and tour with renowned producer Charlie Francis in the coming months.
