Music Director : Mark Fitz-Gerald
Soloist : Ruth Kerr (Soprano)
Tchaikovsky : Overture: 'Romeo and Juliet'
Berg : Seven Early Songs
Sibelius : Symphony No 2 in D maj, Op.43
Alban Berg’s Seven Early Songs were requested by the orchestra but he happens to be one of our Music Director, Mark Fitz-Gerald's favourite composers: a ‘super-Brahms’ of the twentieth century. Soprano Ruth Kerr, who performed with us last year, is joining us again and is certain to give an inspired interpretation. The much requested ‘Romeo and Juliet’ overture (last played by the FSO in 1987) starts the concert and the mighty Sibelius Symphony No 2 brings our season to a close.
