Nine Below Zero are a seminal British rhythm and blues outfit, who in 2014 are celebrating 35 years together, and who continue to set the standard for hard driving, high energy blues-rock and more. With several important albums under their belt and with links to everyone from The Stones to Squeeze, plus a TV portfolio which ranges from The South Bank Show to The Old Grey Whistle Test, NIne Below Zero remain a national institution within the UK's live music scene.
Rewind to 1977-78 and as punk hits the UK, Dennis Greaves and Mark Feltham form Stanís Blues Band. They quickly develop a reputation as an excellent high energy live act. After a blistering show at legendary Thomas A Beckett pub, and in tribute to Sonny Boy Williamson the guys adopt one of his song titles, are renamed Nine Below Zero and (almost!) never look back.
Over the past 35 years NBZ has recorded with the legendary Glyn Johns; played with The Who and The Kinks; and made TV appearances on The Old Grey Whistle Test, and the South Bank Show with Dr Feelgood and The Blues Band. The band also appeared on the first episode of BBC-TVís anarchic comedy hit The Young Ones! Hollywood star Bruce Willis even invited NBZ to play with him at Planet Hollywood in London after the premiere of Twelve Monkeys! In 1994 NBZ supported Eric Clapton at The Royal Albert Hall, playing the whole Twelve Nights and going down a storm.
Recognised the world over as one of the greatest live acts bands ever to come out of the UK, NBZ will be the ideal way to help TLR celebrate our third birthday, so get your drinking boots on and join us at Caroline Club for some no holds barred rocking RíníB!
