BITE THE BUFFALO

A marker of song craftsmanship is a tune that can be stripped down to its bare components and still hold up: 'I get down and around' is just as expressive in the slower acoustic blues format - on Balcony TV - as it is on the BBC Glastonbury introducing stage with the intricate riff ringing out through fuzz and distortion. So it is the transferability of Bite the Buffalo's sound that draws listeners to emotive and honest song writing at the core of their music.

MATT WOOSEY

In 2002, layne Staley passed away and Simon Cowell's dominance was growing; music appeared to be entering the doldrums. However, around this time, a young troubadour was beginning to compose, a man embodying the blues sensibilities and immersive musicality of Staley. 12 years later, the Cowell Empire remains pervasive, but one cannot be pessimistic while the Woosey ascent is happening: 'Black Smoke Rising' obliterates the pristine productions that plague mainstream airwaves. 'That's My Baby' contains ascending lines and rhythmic embellishments that remind us that guitar and vocals is not an exhausted medium, and can still intrigue listeners and elicit their surprise. West Country blues with steely Cajon and exhilarating harmonies creates an illuminating live experience; from the spoken phrases to the jagged howls of the choruses, it is a performance that never lapses. Paul Kossoff, the pioneering guitarist, defined the spine tingling vibrato, but Mr Woosey has brought this a!
ttribute into the 21st century. Kossoff's music eclipsed the warblings of the Bay City Rollers; for contemporary music, The Woosey audio assault awakens listeners after a passage of safety and comfort on commercial airwaves. The Blues renaissance is here, reversing listeners out of Simon Cowell's cul-de-sac of tumbleweed tunes.

"Is Matt Woosey the finest acoustic blues guitar player currently working in UK?", Tom Robinson - BBC 6 Music

"The Best British bluesman since Rory Gallagher", BluesNews.de

LEILA JANE

Northampton based singer/songwriter Leila Jane is a 19 year old folk artist. Her enticing vocals are reminiscent of 1950's Rock and Roll and 1930's Country Blues. Inspired by American Folk music from an early age, Leila has continued to develop her own unique sound which has been described as 'somewhere between Janis Joplin and Sandy Denny.' She has performed at the Cambridge Folk Festival and various folk, blues and bluegrass festivals in Ireland. She has played support for bands such as Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, The Severed Limb and Al Scorch's Country/ Soul ensemble.
