Hey! Manchester presents Radar Bros
Radar Bros are a band from Los Angeles, formed by Jim Putnam with Senon Gaius Williams and Steve Goodfriend in 1994. While they’re signed to Merge Records (M Ward, Lambchop, Neutral Milk Hotel) in the US, in 1999 they became one of only a select few non-British bands to sign to Glasgow’s Chemikal Underground - home to Arab Strap, the Delgados and Mogwai.
The trio have just released Auditorium, which features Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie radio favourite, Lake Life, and soon-to-be-released acoustic charmer Morning Bird. ‘Auditorium is a shimmering, sun-dappled collection of Californian alt-folk, for lovers of Grandaddy, Pink Floyd and Neil Young,’ says Chemikal quite rightly. Personally, we’d add Smog and Magnolia Electric Co to that esteem bunch.
We’re delighted to host Radar Bros’ first visit to Manchester in a long time. They were one of our highlights of All Tomorrow’s Parties 2006 and we’ve been huge fans since we first heard their eponymous album in 1996.
Local support to be confirmed.
