Kikagaku Moyo, (meaning “geometric patterns”) are a currently very hot psychedelic rock band from Tokyo and were pretty damm excited to be hosting them on their first UK tour.
Kikagaku Moyo played this summer at the Austin and Tokyo Psych Fest and from reports quite frankly stole the shows, with many in Austin saying it was the standout live performance of the festival
KIKAGAKU MOYO (Geometric Patterns) got the inspiration for their name after playing for six hours straight in the darkness at which point they started to see colours and patterns behind their eyelids. KIKAGAKU MOYO state that with improvisation they can freely explore beyond consciousness as they make ‘free music’ and you can well imagine this as they take you on a journey through inner space.
Labels – psychedelic, folk, prog-rock, psychedelic-folk-mixed-with-prog-rock – do little to accurately reflect the spectrum of influences on display, the band’s overall sound owe as much to the Incredible String Band as it does to Acid Mother’s Temple.
KIKAGAKU MOYO have become one of the most talked about genre bands of 2014 with all their releases selling out quickly as word of mouth begins to spread on this new cult Japanese band.
You can take it all in from confines on the Ferret.
Starting the show are The Consciousness Collective
