Steeped within a stunning catalogue of tracks comprising his acclaimed Strathglass Trilogy, you will find Duncan Chisholm's distinctive sound of Scottish traditional fiddle music. Highly rhythmical and powerfully personal, this show combines traditional and contemporary tunes, gripping stories of Scotland's ancient Chisholm clan lands and irrepressible humour. Duncan has worked hard to preserve his extended musical heritage in delivering his representation of colourful soundscapes to complement the majestic Glens of Strathglass in the Highlands of Scotland.
A mixture of textures, tones and atmospheres are always at the forefront of Duncan's creative process while composing and arranging his music and he endeavours to fully represent this power during his live performances. Duncan will be joined on stage by; Matheu Watson on guitar, Jarlath Henderson on uilleann pipes.
Duncan's latest release 'Live at Celtic Connections' was awarded reviews of ****The Guardian ****The Telegraph.
Duncan Chisholm is one of Scotland’s most recognised and accomplished fiddle players and composers. Born and brought up near Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland, Duncan has spent most of his life developing his unique musical voice which led him to being nominated within the ‘Musician of the Year’ category in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2013. Fiddle playing at its best, Duncan’s feather-light handling of dynamics and ornamentation, allied with his pure-distilled tone, lend his characteristic spine-tingling magic to his music.
