Kaparte Promotions presents;

(Exclusive UK date)

Hugo Race, formerly of The Wreckery and the Bad Seeds and now an internationally based producer with Dirtmusic, Sepiatone and Fatalists, performs a special solo London show at the Bar & CO Temple Pier with special guest, Cypress Grove.
Currently on a solo World Tour, Hugo Race delivers intense sonic soundscapes that merge folk, experimentalism, electronica and rock. Hugo’s latest release, the ‘Orphans’ EP, (on Rough Velvet Records/iTunes), is the third release from his Fatalists project with Italian instrumental gurus Sacri Cuori, following last year’s ‘We Never Had Control’ and ‘Fatalists’ in 2011.

Cypress Grove’s current release is a collaboration with No Wave icon and muse of The Cinema Of Transgression, Lydia Lunch - “ A Fistful Of Desert Blues” (on Rustblade Records). A second volume of this collaboration is due for release in December – a double header with Rome based band Spiritual Front. The album is called “Twin Horses” and will again be released on Rustblade:
“A folk noir masterpiece” - Record Collector Magazine.
“A Remarkable Piece Of Music” - Louder Than War
“Fine and terrible; a watermark of quality for both artists” -
“A powerful album” – Wire
“A Fistful of Desert Blues is for right now, back then and for the ages to come” -

‘Hugo Race has the kind of presence that draws your eyes towards him wherever he stands in a room. This show is an immersive experience…’ - The Music Australia, 2013

‘Fine, broody album (Between Hemispheres) from former Bad Seed plus collaborators. The much travelled Race again brings his varied sense of atmosphere and backdrop to enhance the complex emotional states presented in these songs’. UNCUT **** UK | February 2011

“Whilst the solo work of Nick Cave, Mick Harvey, Rowland S. Howard and Hugo Race all share aesthetic and aural similarities, they are also highly individual works from unique and creative figures. Here (Fatalists), one truly appreciates the fact that Race has perhaps created the opus which will define his long career.” Denise Granse, Drum Media, Sydney, Feb 2011

I haven't seen such drama, such restrained passion in a long while. Takes you in, won't let go, you forget time, time speeds up and slows down in the same instant. We're captured. Hugo Race is a major, major talent. If you've not seen Hugo live, and you've missed him this tour, you'll have to get on a plane. He's that good.
