WE WERE STRANGERS
One of our favourite artists of the past couple of years is Stefan Melbourne. He's put the solo project on the back burner for the moment and is part of a new collective with the extraordinarily talented Chloe Leavers, called 'We Were Strangers'. They've just revealed their first track 'I Believe'. Stefan's distinctive rough-edged vocals are very much in evidence on the track as the music builds ever so slowly underneath him, increasing the anticipation of the song bursting into life and when it does, about three minutes in, you're drawn to soundscapes to accompany a movie set on a dark, misty moor. It's the first track from an EP, entitled 'Believe' released in March this year. Reminiscent of Damien Rice, Ray LaMontagne, Sufjan Stevens and in places the Grammy winning Beck album Morning Phase, the EP is a stunning collection of tracks and exhibits a great songwriting craft. Definitely one to watch for 2015. http://www.wewerestrangers.co.uk/
Lyrically intriguing with tenderly beautiful vocals, the songs of Little Sparrow are projected with honesty and passion presenting every word as a truth burning from deep within her heart. As captivating to watch as she is to listen to, her delicately emotive use of expression mirrors the sincerity of her delivery making her someone not to be missed.
Little Sparrow's delicate acoustic folk songs are created with a combination of flawless vocals, strings, guitars, percussion and tender harmonies.
Her debut album 'Wishing Tree' has gathered many outstanding reviews and can be found here.
She has recently been played on many radio stations including the Janice Long Show on Radio 2, BBC Manchester Introducing with Michelle Hussey, BBC Introducing Merseyside with Dave Monks and on BBC 6 Radio by Chris Hawkins and Tom Robinson.
