Event information

A modern day Peggy Lee, Marilyn Monroe or Doris Day, Victoria hart delivers her own unique interpretations of swing, jazz and blues standards with natural nonchalance and a dazzling smile.

She was the singing waitress who wowed George Clooney, Brad Pitt and other A-list stars on board a yacht in Cannes. Now Victoria Hart is back to prove once and for all that she is the sassiest and sexiest swing musician of the modern era

Hart interprets swing, jazz and blues material in many different ways making her a unique artist who defies genres.

The new mini-album includes contemporary and often funky versions of standards from a variety of eras by composers as diverse as Cole Porter and Jimi Hendrix as well as a re-recording of one of Hart’s own songs, ‘Some Day’.

‘Mood Swings’ is a beautifully arranged and recorded collection that includes an innovative big-band interpretation of Robert Palmer’s ‘Addicted to Love’, a steamy version of ‘Too Darn Hot’ and ‘Taking a Chance on Love’ with the Pavao string quartet.

It has been a truly exciting 8 months for the 19-year old, taking her from waiting tables to entertaining A-listers. Immediately following Cannes, Victoria flew back to the UK to record Friday Night Is Music Night with the BBC Orchestra and a raft of radio and TV programmes including 4 appearances on GMTV, BBC News, ITN News, Loose Women, The Clothes Show and a quick visit to New York for a live performance on the Today Show.

Virgin Atlantic, enchanted by Hart’s story and music, played songs from her debut album to welcome passengers on board their aircraft around the world. And fashion designer Jacob Kimmie, inspired by the singer’s Monroe curves, designed a one-off creation based on his 2008 Spring collection which Hart revealed at London fashion week.

Her live diary very quickly filled up, delighting public and private audiences alike:

She performed on the Q stage at Glastonbury dressed in wellies and pyjamas and shared the stage at a jazz festival at Woburn Abbey with Jacqui Dankworth, Marti Pelow and Curtis Steigers. An evening with her big band at Ronnie Scotts Club played out to 3 encores. With the Pavao string quartet she entertained 400 A-listers at John Galliano’s Golden Age of Couture Ball at the V&A during London Fashion week. With her big band she played to the audience of the National TV Awards in a live ITV2 broadcast with Kelly and Jack Osbourne and later at The National Movie Awards at Claridges with the Pavao quartet. With her big band and 4 male dancers she entertained a 2,000-strong audience at the infamous G.A.Y. club in London’s West End. A media evening at The Gherkin in London with Victoria and a piano.

She later returned for an appearance at The Shepherds Bush Empire to say thank you to her music college Vocal Tech. And for a short season, Victoria sang at the late nights of the National Theatre/BAC production of The Masque of the Red Death – attended by Jonathan Ross and other celebs. But perhaps her greatest honour towards the end of the year was to sing with the string quartet, at a birthday party hosted by Lady and Sir Philip Green who had been present at the V&A Ball.

Victoria’s next project for 2008 will be an album entitled ‘The Lost Gershwin’. The story behind this record is a Hollywood movie in itself and Victoria is having discussions with a West End Theatre Producer. The Gershwin project will be a collaboration between Victoria, her producer and the all-female Pavao String Quartet who have just been nominated for a Classical Brit Award. They are also consulting the Gershwin family.

Victoria has already started laying down new original tracks for her next solo album due for release in the Autumn and she assures us there will be some interesting developments.

"Move over Amy and Lily. These 6 talented singers (including Victoria) have been causing a storm at this year's festivals and gigs. Take it from us, they're the ones to watch out for in 2008" Mail on Sunday You Magazine
